Week 12 To-Dos

1. Prepare for Masterclass III

This week (April 8), the presenting teams will prepare a short presentation (5-10 mins max, 5 slides max) to the class about their Results and Design Implications. Different from previous weeks, there is no paper to critique. Teams who are not presenting should be ready to provide feedback to the presenting team during the discussion.

Specifically, each non-presenting team will be asked to share their answer to the following three questions during the discussion: (1) Are the results sound / valid? Why or why not? (2) Which of the results / design implications are the most convincing / interesting to you? (3) Based on the results presented, how else can the presenting team adjust their experimental protocol and/or research questions for future studies?

2. Complete "Results / Design Implications"

By Friday April 9, you will need to have completed the writeup for the Results / Design Implications section of your paper (just add the section(s) to paper.tex in Overleaf). For the "Results" section, provide both quantitative and qualitative findings from your pilot study. For quantitative data, run some statistical tests; since this is a small-sample pilot study, it is unlikely to see statistical significance in the results, but it is useful to run these tests anyways as a way to think through what tests are most appropriate for your data. For the "Design Implications" section, describe the most suprising / unexpected findings from your pilot study, and how you might adjust your experimental protocol and/or research questions based on these findings for future studies. The "Results" section should be at least 3 pages long, and the "Design Implications" section should be at least 1 page long.

3. Prepare for Wrap-up Presentation

On Thursday April 15, we will have a wrap-up meeting, where each team will give a 5 minute presentation about their project, followed by a short discussion. Each team should prepare 2 slides only---the first slide describes the 3 most surprising / interesting findings from the pilot study, the second slide describes what you would change in your experimental protocol and/or research questions for future studies. For the teams who are presenting on April 8, this would be a repeat of what you have presented before, plus any new insights you have since the April 8 presentation.

Due Friday April 9
● completed "Results" (min 3 pages) and "Design Implications" (min 1 page) section on Overleaf
