In order to deeply understand your target problem, your team might opt to conduct interviews and observations with organizations (i.e., primary research). Such activities are considered human subject research; as such, students must follow strict guidelines and procedures when it comes to recruitment, consent and study protocols, as discussed in Week 3's tutorial on contextual inquiry. Below are the templates you will need.

Important note: these templates should NOT be changed, except for fill-in-the-blanks and the parts marked in red.

Another way to find out more about problems is to conduct find information already published on the topic (i.e., secondary research). Rachel Figueiredo (Librarian) has put together an online resource on how to conduct secondary research called "Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Commercialization: HLTH 480". Students can also refer to week 3's tutorial on "Research Techniques in Social Innovation" as a reference.
